With under two dozen locals, their town is one of the most serene places you’ll come across but it could have been very different. If just three politicians had voted differently in 1908, Tooma would have been the capital of Australia instead of Canberra!

The pub was built in 1879 from locally fired bricks and has survived floods, droughts and fires – not to mention bushrangers. They think they have the friendliest locals in the entire country and first-time visitors are treated as friends they haven’t met yet.

They are 30 kilometres south of Tumbarumba and just 20 kilometres from the Murray river through stunning country despite the ravages of the January 2020 fires.

They have four traditional pub-style rooms with shared amenities and there is free camping right across the road near their creek.

They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays but at all other times have drinks to quench every thirst and food to fill the hungriest traveller.
