About.

Adelong Alive Museum tells the stories of Adelong and district, beginning in the gold rush period of 1852 and continuing to the present day. This small but vibrant museum offers a variety of local displays and travelling exhibitions which are rotated regularly.

Narratives of the gold mining era and the commercial development of the town form the framework of the museum’s collection and highlight the accomplishments and failures of the people of Adelong and district.

You will be surprised and delighted by objects, such as the meticulously detailed diorama of the Adelong gold fields site, made by local man Tom Wiles. Be entertained by stories of the commercial and civic development of Adelong, including one room dedicated to the history of the Adelong CWA.

Friendly and knowledgeable volunteers are always on hand: stories of miners and magistrates, storekeepers and school teachers, hoteliers, hawkers and housewives await you at the Adelong Alive Museum.

The Adelong Alive Museum is open weekends 11.00am and 3.00pm, with other times available by prior arrangement. Admission is by gold coin donation. Phone: Margaret on 02 69462417 or Jayson on 02 69462000.
