Tumut offers many outdoor activities and serves as the northern gateway to Kosciuszko National Park.
The Tumut River flows along the edge of town, offering quiet walks, kayaking, trout fishing, boating, and canoeing. The Tumut reservoir is also a popular spot for all water sports, including jet skiing, sailing and swimming.
Blowering Dam is 13 kilometres south of Tumut, and at three times the size of Sydney Harbour, it is a popular water sport and recreation destination.
